ash twp park
« on: September 21, 2007, 03:17:28 PM »

Just wondering, How do children get to the new park on Ready Rd? Did the Supervisor and his helpers think about that? i know my children will not bike on Ready road to get there. Speaking of children, how many live near the new park?

We live in Ash Township and have to drive our kids everywhere, no bike riding to the park anyway.  You must be used to the park in town that's within walking distance for many who live in Carleton.  We live nearer to the new park than the park in town too.  Ash Township is a pretty large rural area.

thozem,

That's a great question.  Call the Township Supervisor and ask him..he says he's available 24 hours a day....lol.  654-6992

My kids won't be going there either, although our tax dollars is paying for it.  He couldn't even get volunteers to put it up, which cost us an additional $20,000!  This brand new park is costing over $300,000.  Who is going to police it?  With which money tree are we going to pay someone to take care of it?

Township Meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm.  Yes, they are long, drawn out and boring, but if you don't attend, you'll never know all the shananagins they are pulling.   I think the high school governement teacher should attend to "grade" them on their leadership and decision making.  You really have to look at the whole picture, too.  This is his 3rd year in term....he's RAMMING it through, and will continue to try to RAM all kinds of other spending through before he leaves the office.  Yes, I said leave office....I cannot imagine the voters in Ash Township keeping this BIG SPENDER  in office.  It's not a good thing, especially now with the UAW Strike.   :o

I was happy they were putting the land around the Twp office to good use with the addition of a park.  It's so congested at the current park during summer ball, it will be nice to have some space.

It is dissapointing to see this new park going in, especially because it is costing the residents the
$349,000. to do it and all with out a vote.  3 years ago this board was asked if two ball fields could
be built on that property, to help with the overflow of young ball players.  The request went
  unanswered.
Now that it is only one year to the next election for supervisor,  they deciided to put in a park,    but this was never brought up to the residents, because we are the ones putting in this
park,  there were no fund raisers done to raise the money and numerous grants failed but they
  went ahead with this.
I understand the trend seems to be spend, spend, spend, to bad if we can't afford it.  We'll
figure out how to pay later.   But this is dangerous when it comes to goverment spending more
then they have because it is always been the tax payers that have to pay for their excess
   spending.
With all the increases that the state wants to do to us how can we afford any more taxes from
   the local goverment?
     Food for thought isn't it?

How about the residents of Carleton. They pay $15,000 for the Ash Carleton Rec. Ash Township also pays $15,000 for Ash Carleton Rec( which they pay taxes to Ash twp) and now their taxes are paying for a new park on Ready rd. Talk about triple dipped. I cant wait for the next election. We need to replace everyone of them.

You are right...they do need to be replaced.  We didn't have this problem with the last board.  When the new supervisor and a new trustee got on board.....the spending went through the roof.  I think an AUDIT of their spending should be done.

Anyone know how to get that ball rolling?

:-\ anyone out there had enough of this over spending, hurry up and get it done, life style??? ???
I want to know what bank roll they are using.   *:)   From the rumblings over what the governor has done to everyone and the talk of the poor state the state is in just where did Ash Township get all this cash ???  How is it Ash Township became the most well off area in the whole state.  There are no big businesses in this area, no gold mines,  to fund the pot.  Did they find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Has any one noticed who's porta potty's are on the new park site????  Who is getting paid for that???
Who was laying the black liner for under the playscape,  surprise  it was township employee's.  Did they do that out of the goodness of their heart or did we pay them to be out there, and who was doing their work while they were out doing that????

Have they had that water tested in that pond???  How does one know it is safe????
There are so many unanswered questions.

What was the big rush, couldn't he wait to get a grant to the burden off the residents?  Who is going to police this new park,  and watch over the children to be sure no one drowns in this large
body of water???   Did any one even think of that????

There's always 'citizen's time' during Board meetings - express your opinions there, and in the paper with letters to the editor, and show them no mercy.  Be polite, professional, truthful and to the point.  Mention names - not titles.  If you don't get answers, get involved in the next election.  It's almost too late in this term to start a recall.

Regarding the overspending - go to the Ash Township hall, and FOIA the last year's audit.  Ask when the audit will occur this year, and compare the two.  The township is REQUIRED BY LAW to give you all of this information.  If they don't, it just gives you more ammo for the next election.  When you get the information, POST IT here, and get the word out.  Educate people!

Be persistant, and GET INVOLVED.  Go to meetings.  FOIA information.  If I didn't have my own problems here in London Township, I would be getting invoved in Ash township - and I don't even live there.
