I have a ? Were does the money go that High schoolers  pay to park at the High School? dont tell me to the Police officers, because we already established that the twp. pays for them. Since all the kids drive, its less burden on our already over burdened bus system, so with that relief felt, why do they have to pay? What would the busses  do if all the kids didnt drive this year?

According to the paper, the officers are paid by the school, not the Township. That is why there may only be one offcier next year. Ida's officer is retiring and he may not be replaced by the school.

The parking fee is to defray the cost pf the parking lot attendant.

Please let me clarify, the 2 deputy sheriffs who work in the Bedford Public School district are contracted for through the county.  The school district pays 67% of the cost of the salary and benefits.   The County of Monroe pays the remaining 33%, which covers the summer months when they are assigned to other duties.  The township does not pay anything for these two deputies, but because of their location, the township does benefit from their service (as I occasionally see those deputies doing traffic enforcement or other tasks off campus.)  I have not seen any indication that they were definitely going to cut one of the school officers.  I for one would hate to see that.  They both do a lot for the entire school district, including the elementary buildings.  I'm not sure if any part of that parking fee is used to off-set the cost to the school for these two deputies.  But I think they use that to pay a parking lot/hall monitor.  The buses are going to run regardless if some high school kids drive.  I wish more high school students would utilize the buses, the traffic around school at 7:15am and 2:30pm is ridiculous.  I don't think that every kid should be allowed to drive, it should be based on need.

What exactly would be the "need" to drive to school?

In my opinion, a "need" would be a job, educational activities, babysitting for siblings, or extra curricular activities after-school.

Which is probably what all those students drive for anyways...

If everyone decided to ride the bus, there wouldn't be enough room. Many students carpool to school anyways therefore subsidizing the school system.

The school should just have the ordinance ticket improperly parked cars instead of paying what they pay for the parking lot attendant they have now.

And the $25 or whatever the High School pays is nothing compared to the $100/semester at some local colleges - and they have multiple students who check the lots constantly to ticket for anything.

The "parking lot attendant" does perform more duties than parking lot monitoring.  She also patrols the hallways and keeps an eye on visitors.  They also utilize her for escorting students from their classroom, etc. to the office for discipline or attendance issues.
