I know we voted on the Erie Transit a while ago and yes I know it can only be used for that. But since our population has fallen, and seniors do not use it anyway (like some were told). Its time to take a look at the next time it's up, to vote the other way.
Just today I saw one and it was empty or maybe full of midgets and I could not see over the windows.
Sometime I may not word thing exactly the way they are meant, but some people understand me.

FYI,
OLD LADY BETTY, take a drive to maumee, perrysburg, sylvania. They have alot nicer townhalls, cityhall. You might not know but its cheaper to build up not out. Ie more sqft to go up is cheap that more foundation work to have 1 floor. Mannic smith was our best insurance policy for our tax dollars. Every city hires an outside counsultant to help with the builder and archetech. This keeps our best intrests in front not more money to contractors and designers. I agree with LC. GET INFORMED. sorry about spelling
Get informed about what. I just made an opinionated statement, not quoting the bible or anything..

NO need for name calling....BTW...I would expect Sylvannia and Perrysburg to have much nicer facilities...their tax base is bigger than ours. One thing I will say is...a few years ago, Bedford was SO up and coming. I don't think anyone of us could have forseen the fall of our auto industry...that had a huge impact. I stated this before in another topic. 10 years ago, living in Bedford was out of our reach..due to the fall in home prices we could afford a home here. That in and of itself speaks to the current financial state.

LC,
Please feel free to pick on me. I back up my post.
The DDA is not an extra tax. It is a loophole that allows a select group to dedicate their taxes to a special interest. This basically means that they can allocate their tax money to a pet project. In this case a puddle park in front of Krogers. I sure wish that I could allocate my property taxes to my pet project instead of the township spending it as they please.
As well it is obvious that the Lake Erie mileage was approved by the voters. Sometimes voters make mistakes. I doubt that the real costs and usage data were ever accurately explained for the voters to make an informed decision. Basically, the taxpayers subsidize each user $5 per ride. Are you ok with that?
My guess is that you perhaps are a business owner in the DDA district that is quite content to spend property tax dollars to your advantage. In addition, the taxpayer funded Lake Erie Transit delivers subsidized customers to your location.
You made the obvious point that the school issue is a separate tax. Duh! I only suggested that the expenses need to be reduced and the revenue increased to perhaps balance the budget.

I agree with many of you concerning the Lake Erie Transit issue. It would be interesting to see the breakdown on what the cost is to transport people using this service. Does anyone know where we can get this info? Maybe Bedford should just purchase a van and hire a driver to transport the people who need a ride or better yet just hire a cab company to do it. Seems like it would be much cheaper.

Go to the next twp meeting, figures in hand and ask your questions, or schedule a meeting. Backseat driving makes me car sick. I Prefer to be up front and ask.

teri1222ls,
What a great comment. Hope you don't mind if I borrow it from time to time, when the need arises.

If you need some info on the proposed ballot millage issues for roads and the parks there was an article in today’s Toledo Blade on each of the proposals. I see that it was posted on the Bedford Yes site at the following link:

OOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGOD
and I quote today's Toledo Blade
"Howard Penrod, manager of the road commission, said the cost of each employee would range from $60,000 to nearly $90,000 annually, depending on the worker's years of experience."
just read the article to see what I mean.... what a crock of $%*$**#$**
What...just to drive a snow plow or patch roads... I am sure they can get other subs to do it for less...this is outrageous

Quite frankly I always use $80,000 for estimating employee costs. That includes benefits, payroll taxes, and vacations. It is not their salaries.
