I've never paid a penny to use my MB&T debit card, I do however get hit every time I have to pay for check printing. I'd say Bedforddaddy needs to shop around for another bank.

Yeah,  forgot about the cost of getting checks printed.  Then if you mail checks to pay bills which most people do that are afraid of credit/debit cards they pay a lot of postage to mail them.  Or if you drive around and pay directly you spend a lot of money on gas.
It's so annoying waiting in line while someone writes out a check, gets it approved and then of course they have to balance their checkbook while you wait some more.

I have never paid a fee for either a debit card or a credit card at the 3 banks that I deal with.  Quite the contrary, they give me bonus points...that I redeem for gifts on a regular basis.  I don't think checks do that.
