Toledo Catholic Schools new site

 The Toledo Catholic schools have come up with a site that kids can email all kinds of info to. Some examples were  if you heard someone making threats, someone bragging about bringing a gun to school, bullying etc. The eighth graders interviewed said that it takes the fear out of reporting problems. Obviously someone monitors this and notifies the school in question of the problem. Sounds like a good beginning to increased communication with kids and schools. Don't think it might work for all school districts but for Toledo parochial schools it is a good tool.

Monroe County used to have a 24 hour 800 number to call to report this type of activity anonymously.  But like many other safety initiatives, if eventually went away.

Bedford Schools could do something similar.  They could set up a FB page with just a few admin.  There is the "Message" function that could be used for students to send in tips, etc.  I think there would have to be assurance that their identities would never be revealed.

Isn't Facebook what caused the last scare at Bedford?

It wasn't Facebook...Just like it isn't the gun...It was the questionable status of the kid that posted something on facebook.

 The Toledo Diocese says messages are anonymous.

Can't be totally anonomous, can it?  If someone reports something and it leads to a trial, isn't the defendant allowed to know who the accuser is?  Plus you have to have saveguards from those who would abuse it.
